Vita / Lebenslauf:
I was born on the 5 th March , 1961 , in Benoni , South Africa. It is about a 30-40 minute drive from Johannesburg which I can remember visiting many times with my family when I was a kid back in the deep dark days of Apartheid. As my large extended family were all musical I remember doing the rounds to operas , choirs , ballet , live gigs and all other kinds of performances all the time. The only person in the family that was a painter was my mothers older brother, uncle Dennis , who lived and worked in Windhoek, South West Africa , now known as Namibia.
During my pre teen years the things I remember was South Africa changing from the Union of South Africa ( USA ) to the Republic of South Africa ( RSA ). That was because of us being kicked out of the British Commonwealth and being banned from international sports and events thanks to the ruling National Party and its racist policies and laws. The money changed from pounds and pennies into Rands and cents. The metric system was also adopted.
