My life's mission as an artist is to discover a new way of looking at things--a new vision that makes me feel better about myself and the world around me. My artwork represents a lifetime of reflection and transfiguration of stored memories.
I have been a landscape artist ofr the last thirty years. Recently, I have been producing paintings using acrylics or pastels. The major portion of my recent work consists of nighttime representations of lights or images of the city. I am interrested in capturing basic geometric relationships and if possible, some of the spiritual impact, of urban cityscapes.
When I start creating a new work of art, I begin by recalling a variety of visual images I have stored in my memory. Some of these memories are very fresh, being images seen only days or weeks before. But some are from my childhood. I seek to discover in each stored image its essence: qualities that had the power to impress and astonish me when I first saw the image.
I have recently retired from Chicago, Illinois to Bella Vista, Arkansas. I was born and raised in Chicago and have an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago, with work on an advanced degree in Art History. My interest in art is longstanding as my father was a commercial artist, who allowed me to play with his pastels.
During the past thirty years, I have been juried into many national exhibits and one-man shows. I have had gallery representation in New York, Chicago and many other cities. In addition, agents and publishers of my limited edition serigraphs have sold hundreds of my prints to galleries and collectors. I have completed works of art for galleries, corporations and private collectors as far away as Canberra, Australia, where William Pei & Associates, architects, selected a suite of my limited edition prints for installtion in a hotel they designed.
