My work responds to personal experience as well as the sensations associated with an audiences’ experience at the cinema. I am interested in the cognitive effects on me as I watch a film. My particular interests are the relationship between imagery and soundtrack, as well as the sometimes-conscious wish that the worlds portrayed in film are congruent to the life beyond the walls of the cinema and living room.
I have also been producing a series of Architectural Interior images as a study of space. Photographing spaces of grandeur, as well as the claustrophobic, devoid of a human presence, allows my audience to draw on the space itself. They can experience the space as something that surrounds and engulfs them, without the distractions tied to throngs of people they might usually encounter.
