Artist Statement : 2008
These “Beach” Series paintings are inspired by an afternoon on the beach. Each painting is a variation of this theme, a detail of the larger view, a recall of the previous painting and an opening on the following one.
I associate the abstract line of movement and the expressive qualities of colour. Outlines melt into undefined shapes in contrasting colours : the final painting is a succession of broken shapes that have no apparent connection with reality.
