Roslyn Rose

USA (United States)

Kunstart: Fotografie
Technik: Digitalfotografie
Stil: Gegenständlich

Statement:
I produce montages using old photographs that I have bought or borrowed. Blending early Twentieth Century portraits with contemporary images suggests intimate moments in time and place that may have occurred. While a picture of an individual may tell one story, I invent another context for each scenario, revealing possible histories influencing the present. Viewers are invited to blend their own remembrances with the illusions I have presented.

Vita / Lebenslauf:
Roslyn Rose was born in New Jersey and has lived in Hudson County for 25 years. She studied art at Rutgers University, Pratt Institute, and Skidmore College (where she received her B.Sc.) Ms. Rose is well known for her etchings and assemblages but recently she has concentrated on using the technique of Digital Manipulation to create Photographic Montages.
Ms. Rose s art work is in the collections of many museums and corporations including the Newark Museum of Art, Voorhees-Zimmerli Museum at Rutgers, and the McAllen International Museum in Texas. She has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in group shows throughout the United States. Awards include Best-in-Show at the Mountain Art Show, Bernardsville, NJ; Computer Art and Photography Awards at National Association of Women Artists Exhibitions; and The Directors Award at the Period Gallery, Omaha, NE. She recently received the Best-in-Show award at the International Society of Experimental Artists Annual Exhibition in Houston, Texas.
