Statement:
Art is her passion and her spirit. She is a self-taught artist and Martina continuously experiments each day to push herself to her creative limits. As an abstract painter she creates an array of organic contemporary paintings and she always approachs creating from an experimental angle. Martina's process includes many layers of acrylic, ink or encaustic color as well as an array of textures including paper, pastels, graphite, threads, textiles, found objects and various gel mediums. She is continuously surrounded by nature's spendor. Whether she is skiing, hiking or cycling, She is constantly moved by nature's beauty. Her inspiration comes from the magnificence of her hometowns in three continents. Her current home in Switzerland and her previous homes in crazy-exciting Shanghai and sprinkling-inspiring Chicago where she enjoyed each city for 3 years. The cities mean everything to her and her artworks are highly influenced by her lifes abroad which are also identified as her school of life. All of her works are also inspired by people who are most important in her life. She was born in a beautiful village in Switzerland sourrounded by nature and mountains close to the majestic Alps. As child she was creative, always experimenting with different materials, building things, gluing them and finding elements wherever she could to create something out of nothing. The artist's mother has let her beeing creative every day. She feels that creating art is a continuous flow of inspiration and sometimes working up emotions from the present or the past. If she is not painting, you can find her assisting her daughter during painting. Since her daughter is able to hold a brush, she is painting her own artworks which are not for sale. Martina is most fascinated about her youngster's passion for creativity. Often she lets her paint in a certain stage of her own artwork and she usually leaves the artstudio for a while and let her young artist do what ever she wants with Martina's painting. As you can imagine, this part isn't easy for the creator and can be tricky sometimes ... but she says it's always such a fun part, coming back and exploring her new artwork with her creation in it. She always feels very proud of her own daughter at that stage. That's why in many artworks you will find elements of her daughter.
