Vita / Lebenslauf:
Born in Chester, Great Britain, in 1954, Jill Bonnaud studied Fine Art at the University of Kingston-upon-Thames, with a view to teaching Art in Secondary Education.
Today, Jill lives and works near Clermont-Ferrand, (located in the center of France) on the slopes of the volcanic chain in the Puy-de-Dôme region.
These 80 volcanoes lie dormant, but the visitor can be aware of magma and terrestial mouvement deep beneath the earth’s crust. This awareness has been translated into a series of abstract paintings entitled « Interior Landscapes ».
Other paintings from this theme, such as « Fault Line » are more figurative.
After many years of engraving and painting in a figurative style, Jill now continues solely to paint in an abstract style, plunging into the subconscious and spontaneity of gesture.
Dual forces are at play, opening onto interior landscapes which question body and soul, Yin and Yang, material and immaterial, bestial and spiritual...and their interactions.
The most recent interior landscapes depicted are inspired by multiple depths - terrestrial, oceanic and celestial: opening a gateway onto a perception of the infinite
One can 'let go' and freely contemplate in order to find one's own serenity and inner feelings.
