Vita / Lebenslauf:
I received a BA degree in Studio Art from the University of Maryland in 1996, and an MFA degree from the University of Maryland in 1999. While at the University of Maryland, I was awarded a Graduate Fellowship and a Graduate Teaching Assistantship. Upon graduation, I received the David C. Driskell Award for outstanding visual thesis and excellence in teaching. I currently teaches beginning and advanced painting and all levels of drawing at the University of Maryland in College Park.
My paintings and drawings have been shown in exhibitions including "Seeing Red: A Juried Exhibition," curated by Sam Gilliam at The Gallery, Arts/Harmony Hall, Fort Washington, MD, "Mixed Media" at Wohlfarth Galleries in Washington, DC, "Masters in Our Midst" in the Lowe House Office Building, Annapolis, MD, "Translation", curated by Annie Gawlak at Arts 901 in Washington, DC, and "The Poetry of Paint" at Montpelier Cultural Arts Center in Laurel, MD. I was selected as one of ten Washington, DC area artists for the exhibition "New Talent" at Rockville Arts Place. I received a juror’s award for my entry in the traveling exhibition "Drawing and Redefining Drawing: Invitations and Selections" by Manon Cleary sponsored by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Other exhibitions include group shows in galleries in New York City, Long Island City, NY, LACDA in Los Angeles, the University of Maryland University College, and the Glassell School of Art in Houston, TX.
