Statement:
At present I use acrylic paint on canvas building up the layers until I am satisfied with the whole. I see my work as being more about installation and assemblage; making and arranging objects that I have coloured. I wish to take the viewer on a journey through coloured space in a manner which is both idiosyncratic and humorous. This will include paintings as well as decorative objects.
I have been involved with the decorative for some time so working towards a sculptural tableau was a natural progression. I have admired a number of German artists, in particular Tobias Rehberger, Anselm Reyle and Isa Genzken.
My work also involves photography and working with nature. I am attracted to anything involving colour, particularly very bright colour.
