Statement:
Artistic expression, for me, starts from looking at the tree branch, the expression on people’s faces or the marble flooring, and the like. While at MSU I have created a few different series of works.
The first called ‘Menu’ deals with pornography taken from the internet. While looking at specific images from printed sheets of paper, I painted the images while dealing with my issue of porn. The like and not like aspects of it and the outcome came to be non-threatening images on 8X5 sheets of paper.
The next was a few works dealing with an obsession of a guy I met on the internet. The series has to deal with love, obsession, and longing to hold somebody you might never meet. I sculpted a head and created a huge canvas measuring 18’X9’ witch depicts imagery representing the feelings of love brought out from meeting this guy online.
My final series deals with drawing from life. Taking one, two, or three sheets of paper and using charcoal to steer my hand and eye coordination to create the essence of the person I am looking at. This makes the subject recognizable but also holds the mystical qualities that captures more then a person’s flesh.
I deal with the figure and what experiences I go through. There are always people around me and because I am a person I’m drawn to the face. It shows emotion. And I capture it! I could call myself an emotionalist. I represent the emotions.

Performence Event

I have participated in a Graduate Thesis Preparation by David Horton. Chairman David Horton had Professor James Andrew Brown prepare the Monster creation. It had to be big enough that the graduates could walk through and mobile enough to move around. We worked on that project and the day of the Show I was to get half naked, run around with a wrap on my and I or someone got the idea to place mud on our faces and my breasts. There were two of us to run around wildly and antagonize the audience. The Monster was to represent something in which the graduates had to pass through to come out at the other end in order to let go of something in which held them back like fear. It could have been anything personally to them, but generally it was to find their fear, face it and let it go. And prepare them in a special way for MFA Graduation that year. I must have did a good job because Horton said, We are hitting the malls next week. That was a joke but I was inclined to really do that for I had lots of fun. This took place in front of an Audience and was in the Power Art Gallery. Also in the Power Art Gallery at WPU I have participated in one or more group shows with sculpture and possibly painting.
