Statement:
My art work reflects my professional experience, cultural influences and emotions and is an attempt to bring together the dualities in my life: engineering vs. abstract art, black and white vs. color, form and passion. I like to express myself through strong colors and the medium itself. My enthusiasm and curiosity in experimenting with my abstract work grow continually.
Thank you for your interest in my art work.
Vita / Lebenslauf:
I am a self-taught artist who is a civil engineer by day and an abstract artist by night. I have been always fascinated and inspired by abstract artists such as Jackson Pollock and Mark Rothko.
I was born and grew up in Berlin, Germany when the city was divided by the wall. While studying engineering at the University of Applied Science in Berlin, I became fascinated with the passion expressed in abstract art. I graduated college in 1994 and received a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
I moved to Orlando, Florida six years ago and I started painting intensively about two years ago. I have been working for the past six years as a project manager at an engineering company.
During the summer of 2007 I attended a three month abstract painting art class / workshop at “Creadle School of Art” in Winter Park, Florida. Since spring 2008 I am attending the Abstract Painting Class at the “Maitland Art Center” in Maitland, Florida. In September 2008 I was invited as an emerging artist to the “Celebrating the Genius of Women” charity event which was organized by “Women in the Arts”. In October 2008 I was selected among 150 artists to participate at the “Maitland Rotary Art Festival”.
