Painting and sculpture: The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium
Upon graduation in 1983 �, Tourya embarked on an advertising career, working as a creative director for some of the leading agencies around the world in Belgium, South East Asia, Singapore, and Thailand. Yet in the late 1990s she decided to focus on her art solely and began exploring techniques in various media. Approaching her artistry from an art historian perspective � and as an enthusiast of what the great Masters mastered � Tourya applies her extensive knowledge to all mediums, always searching for unique ways in conveying in-depth vision.
Aktivitäten / Ausstellungen:
While traveling to Cuba in 2001, Tourya became fascinated by Santos � �saints��series was born , The unusual rendering and glorifying image of worship and mystical adoration in oil on canvas works, just reminds us of how deep religious extension can be .
In doing this work one has to acknowledge the power of spirituality and it\\\'s border less line across cultures and a common link between religious worship and beliefs.
The second series following up Santos is \\\' FAITH \\\' series were the portraying of nuns as a mean of bringing to life the near lost of faith and believes across cultures and understanding,

Faith series is to be exhibited in the Florence Biennale Dec. 2009
Santos series series will be exhibited in Belgium in 2009.

FILM and Video
One of her most obsessing ongoing project is the movie �Loud silence�
Loud Silence, started of as a result of six months cohabitation within the community of deaf and mute people in Thailand.
The film explores the systems of communication within different cultures, in particular, those who are hearing-impaired. Loud Silence is a continuous production among deaf people around the world and their surroundings and cultures within a diversity and societies.

�Jamming� was produced with the same focus on the reverse effect of Loud Silence, were urban noises and extensive of excessive oral pollution can bring an end to hearing. The ongoing process of Jamming is produced in several cities, The combined Sound project is to be edited in one loop as sound and visual were cities and countries become as one in a confused cultural concert of chaos and imagery .

URBAN SCULPTURE 2000- 2008
In 2000 Tourya purchased a few buildings in the Casbah ,with an experimental idea in mind , She challenged the Art and architecture by dismissing the conventional lay out and process of a home and focused more on he process of living sculptural form in line and lights, The project � \\\'entitled Urban demolition within\\\' �Is a ongoing demolition and reconstruction of a dream that never sees the day because of the unregulated systems within a micro systems of administration and bureaucratic maze of chaos and lawless order. The result is a architectural experiment of work of Art instead of a useful dream home

Tourya�s work has been in exhibitions in London , Belgium, South East Asia ,Morocco and Arizona. Many of her paintings and sculptures are in private collections around the world.
The artist currently divides her time between the deserts of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Marrakesh, Morocco.
