Statement:
My new body of work came about after several significant changes in my life. These changes provided an opportunity to challenge my view of my own identity as an artist, a wife, and a member of society. My "traffic" series looks at survival in society and as an individual, personal identity, and communication. Though at first glance they appear to be based on the flow of traffic, my focus is on the space that exists between the objects. I relate that to the space in my life that exist in the time between events. My goal in omitting any indications of surroundings is to allow the viewer to draw on their own individual experiences and to evoke conversations in personal experiences with their surrounding environment.
