Vita / Lebenslauf:
Newspaper clippings, photographs, and assorted magazine scraps inspire this ongoing series of paintings. The fragmented images are the genesis and the building blocks that construct my work. Each painting can be viewed as an abstract scaffold, with projecting misfit pieces, compiled protrusions and layered frameworks. The imagery suggests wood blocks, pipes, plastics, propellers, rocks, debris, wheels and clusters. There are references to landscapes in the Oregon Road series. The combination of pieces create a spacial textured landscape. The fragments are caught in a moment of convergence to create an emblematic structure.
I have a MFA from Yale University and a BA from Indiana University. I worked at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and taught at the Rutgers University Art Department in Newark. I pursued a career as a Designer working in advertising, interior design, magazine publishing and packaging in New York City. For the last seven years, I have been able to work solely on my art. My work was featured in the 2001 Fall Drawing Center Show. My paintings and collages are in many private collections.
