It takes a moment to understand the complexity of the bottom half of this painting. Once the harshness is understood, the viewer can mentally reshape the combinations of brushstrokes to create a crystallized effect. A flickering turns into a vibration, which, however, is firmly anchored by the dark spot in the middle.
