Georg Cantor, 1845 St. Petersburg – 1918 Halle, is one of my personal idols. He basically invented modern set theory and in particular the theory of infinite sets. Ahead of his time in some way, overlooking far distant horizons, he has proven that in fact, there are different types of infinity.
